Some Useful Care Tips On Wigs

Wig care isn’t as simple as looking after your natural locks, it requires a bit of extra TLC to prolong its life. This informative guide on how to care for your wig ensures you know exactly how to wash and style your favorite wig so it gets the care it truly deserves.

Shampoo

To keep your human hair wig looking vibrant, Wash and Wear Shampoo. Fill a sink or bowl with two quarts of cool water, add the directed amount of wig shampoo, and immerse your wig. Allow it to soak for five minutes. Gently agitate your wig to ensure water has penetrated all the strands. Remove your wig, place it on a soft towel, and blot the fibers. Drain and rinse the sink so no soapy residue remains.

Condition

After shampooing with wash and wear shampoo spray a generous amount of Tangle Tamer Leave In Conditioner on damp hair. Comb through roots to ends. Tangle Tamer can be used on both dry and damp hair to help protect the fibers from environmental effects.

Dry

Remove the majority of the moisture by blotting with a towel. Hang your full lace wig on a wig stand to air dry for 3 to 4 hours. Do not use a hairdryer as the intense heat could damage the fibers of the wig. We recommend using a wig stand as this allows air to fully circulate in and around the wig and it’s a much gentler drying process. You can gently shake the wig and work the hair with your fingertips before styling.

Style

Now it’s the fun part. You can use lots of different wig accessories to style your wig after it’s been washed. Avoid using a regular brush designed for human hair such as Brazilian straight virgin human hair as this can sometimes be too harsh on the wig fibers and cause excessive tension when styling. Although your wig has a foundational style, products like wig mouse and spritz sprays make the styling opportunities endless. Added height can be achieved easily with the use of a wig comb, simply tease or back-comb at the base of the wig for a fuller style.
